Competition: FKF Women Premier League – Matchweek 5
Kayole Starlets fell 2–1 at home to Kibera Soccer Women in a closely contested FKF Women Premier League clash. Despite the loss, the team displayed strong determination and fighting spirit, pushing until the final whistle.
FIRST HALF
The opening half was evenly balanced, with both sides showing discipline in defense and patience in buildup play.
Our best chance came when Magneta Ocharo made a clever run to meet Nuru Hadima’s looping pass, but the Kibera goalkeeper reacted quickly to deny the effort. Esther Ngugi tried to pounce on the rebound, but the shot drifted wide with the keeper off her line.
At the other end, Pauline Kathuruh pulled off a crucial save midway through the half to keep the scores level, ensuring the teams went into halftime at 0–0.
KIHARA ON THE SCORESHEET
Kibera broke the deadlock shortly after the restart, taking advantage of a defensive lapse as Anna Arusi nodded home from a corner.
The introduction of Lindah Kihara and Ashley Shilwatso in the 51st minute added instant energy and attacking threat. Ashley’s powerful long-range strike forced a fine save from the Kibera goalkeeper, while Kihara narrowly missed from close range moments later.
Persistence paid off when Magneta Ocharo, who had been brilliant throughout, made a dazzling run down the right and delivered a pinpoint low cross to Lindah Kihara, who finished calmly to level the score at 1–1.
LATE WINNER
After the equalizer, Kayole Starlets looked the more likely to win. Ashley Shilwatso, Magneta Ocharo, and Salome Drailer all came close to finding a second goal.
However, a late defensive mix-up in stoppage time proved costly, as Faith Mboya pounced to score the decisive goal for Kibera Soccer Women—handing them their first victory of the season and leaving the home crowd heartbroken.
WHAT’S NEXT
The result leaves Kayole Starlets 6th on the table with 7 points from 5 matches. The team will look to bounce back quickly when they host Kisped Queens on Sunday, 23rd November at 1 PM at Utalii Grounds.
