Kayole Starlets FC 2 : 0 Gaspo Women FC

Match Report: Kayole Starlets 2-0 Gaspo Women, Calvary Sports Ground

Our girls wasted no time in asserting their dominance in a thrilling home encounter against 4th placed, Gaspo Women. The action began early, with Valerian Nabwire coming close in the 5th minute, but her effort went wide. A few minutes later, Molly Owuor found Sarah in the box, only for her shot to bedenied by the Gaspo’s goalkeeper.

We continued to dominate possession, and our efforts were rewarded in the 16th minute. Valerian’s precise pass found Nuru Hadima, who flicked it to Sarah Chalovu. Without hesitation, Sarah unleashed a shot from outside the box to score her second goal of the season, sending the home crowd into wild celebrations.

Our attacking momentum remained relentless, with Salome Drailer nearly doubling our lead before the half-hour mark, only for her shot to be saved. The first half ended with us in firm control, dictating play and pressing high up the pitch.

We started the second half with the same intensity. Just four minutes in, Salome Drailer, who had an impressive first half, connected with Mercy Mang’uro’s cross, but her header narrowly missed the target. Seeking to maintain our attacking rhythm, Coach Busu made the first tactical change in the 59th minute, introducing Chris Kach for Molly Owuor.

As we continued pushing for a second goal, further changes were made in the 72nd minute. Melissa Vivian and Shalin Otieno were introduced for Salome Drailer and Sarah Chalovu. The substitutions made an immediate impact, with Chris Kach and Shalin Otieno linking up well in attack. Shalin almost found the net with a clever lob over the keeper, but her effort sailed over the crossbar. Minutes later, she had another opportunity from a well-timed through ball by Melissa Vivian, but again, her shot went wide.

Finally, the breakthrough came in the 87th minute. Chris Kach’s well-struck shot was initially saved, but the rebound fell to Shalin, who made no mistake in slotting home our second goal of the game. To close out the match, Coach Busu made one last substitution, bringing on Rose Mumbua for Nuru Hadima, marking Rose’s first appearance of the season.

With this crucial 2-0 victory, we extend our lead at the top of the table to six points, now sitting on 39 points, ahead of second-placed Bandari Queens. A solid performance from the team, demonstrating our attacking prowess and defensive resilience.
