When Euphrasier ‘Ashley’ Shilwatso joined Kayole Starlets in October 2025, she arrived with a dream. “I will be happy when I get a call-up to the national team one day,” she told the club’s media shortly after joining.
Less than a year later, that dream has become reality, and much more. Ashley quickly established herself as an important figure in the Kayole Starlets squad. Her composure, defensive awareness and consistency became a defining feature of her performances, while her versatility allowed her to make an impact in different areas of the pitch.
Her breakthrough moment came early in the 2025/26 FKF Women Premier League season. Making her debut as a substitute, she announced herself in spectacular fashion, scoring a Goal of the Season contender against defending champions Kenya Police Bullets. She carried that momentum into her second appearance, producing a match-winning performance in a dramatic 3–2 comeback victory away to Gideon Starlets. She scored twice, including a decisive late winner, and was named Player of the Match.
Her performances continued to attract attention, eventually earning her a place in the Harambee Starlets setup. She received multiple national-team call-ups, including the WAFCON preparatory squad and the FIFA Series squad alongside teammate Lindah Kihara.
Ashley’s season with Kayole Starlets ended on an even higher note. She played a crucial role in helping the team secure a sixth-place finish in their first season back in the FKF Women Premier League, delivering several impressive and important performances throughout the campaign.The defender capped off her breakthrough season with five goals and was also named the club’s Player of the Month for October, underlining her growing influence and consistency throughout the campaign.
Then came the biggest moment of all. Ashley was named in Kenya’s squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, becoming the first Kayole Starlets player ever to represent the club at WAFCON. She subsequently made her WAFCON debut against hosts Morocco and went on to make appearances against Senegal and Algeria
Now, after a remarkable journey in Kayole colours, Ashley is taking the next step in her career, heading to Turkey to join Haymanaspor Kulubu Women where she will be joining her teammate, Lavine Achola. From a dream of earning a national-team call-up to representing Kenya at WAFCON, Ashley’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable.
