OCHARO & CALTA EXCELLENCE
Kayole Starlets secured their first win of the 2026/27 FKF Women’s Premier League season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Trinity Starlets at Police Sacco Stadium on Sunday evening. Both sides started strongly, with Trinity creating the early pressure and forcing Goalkeeper Nelly Achieng into action. Achieng remained alert throughout the opening stages, keeping the visitors’ attacks under control. As the game approached the half-hour mark, Kayole capitalized on a defensive mistake. Calta Nasambu pounced on a poor back pass, beat the goalkeeper and released the ball to Magneta Ocharo, who calmly slotted into an empty net to give Kayole the lead in the 30th minute. The goal was Ocharo’s second of the season and marked another assist for Nasambu, who continues to make her presence felt in the final third.
NELLY ACHIENG’S SHOW
Trinity returned from the break with renewed intensity as they searched for an equalizer, but Kayole’s defensive unit stood firm. Martha Nafula and Elizabeth Okello were instrumental in neutralizing Trinity’s attacking threat, while the rest of the backline remained disciplined to protect the lead. Captain, Drailer Salome was also forced deep to assist in the defense. At the other end, Magneta Ocharo came close to doubling Kayole’s advantage, while substitute Eunice Bobby also had an opportunity to extend the lead, with both efforts narrowly missing the target. Trinity continued to push late into the game, but Nelly Achieng produced a crucial double save to keep Kayole ahead and ensure the team held on for maximum points. The final whistle confirmed Kayole Starlets’ first victory of the season.
