Match Report: Kayole Starlets Crowned WNSL Champions After Dominant Final Display
Kayole Starlets capped off a remarkable season with a commanding 3-0 victory over Madira Girls in the 2024/25 WNSL Championship Final, securing the league title and confirming their return to the FKF Women Premier League.
Having dominated Zone A with a league-best 50 points, Kayole entered the final as favorites against Zone B leaders Madira Girls, who had finished with 45 points. And they lived up to the billing right from kick-off.
It took just three minutes for Kayole to strike. A beautifully whipped cross from Nuru Hadima found Sarah Chalovuunmarked in the box. The forward made no mistake, calmly slotting the ball past the Madira goalkeeper to put Kayole 1-0 up.
The pressure was relentless. In the 15th minute, Shalin Otieno pounced on a rebound to double the lead, showcasing her instinctive striker’s touch. Just six minutes later, she was at it again. A goalkeeping error gifted her a chance, and she buried it with a clinical finish to complete her brace and take her season tally to eight goals — making her the team’s top scorer in the WNSL.
With a 3-0 lead at halftime, the Starlets showed maturity and control in the second half. Madira Girls tried to get back into the game, but Kayole’s defense — the best in the league — held firm. Substitutes Melissa Vivian and Valerian Nabwire came on to reinforce the midfield and maintain attacking pressure.
Despite a more cautious second-half approach, Kayole never looked threatened. The final whistle was met with celebrations as the team lifted the WNSL Championship trophy — a fitting reward for a season defined by consistency, teamwork, and excellence.
