Kayole Starlets’ Euphrasier “Ashley” Shilwatso has shared her appreciation following her recent inclusion in the Harambee Starlets squad that featured in the FIFA Series Women’s matches against India and Australia.
Shilwatso, our only player named in the final squad, described the call-up as a proud and defining moment, one that has added a new layer to her development as a player.
Despite not getting minutes on the pitch, Shilwatso emphasized that the experience itself was invaluable.
“Even though I didn’t get to play, being part of the national team setup meant everything to me. I learned so much just from training, observing, and being in that environment. It’s something I truly value.”
A natural midfielder at club level, Shilwatso was deployed as a centre back during her time with the national team, an adjustment she embraced as part of her growth.
“Playing as a centre back was a big adjustment for me since I’m used to midfield at Kayole Starlets. But it challenged me to see the game differently especially in positioning, communication, and reading the game from deeper areas. It has helped me become a more complete player.”
She also expressed gratitude to the national team technical bench and her teammates for the support and learning environment.
“I want to thank the coaches for trusting me with this opportunity and the players for welcoming me. Being around more experienced players pushed me to improve every day. I picked up a lot from them both on and off the pitch.”
Harambee Starlets opened their campaign with an impressive 2–0 victory over India before delivering a spirited performance against Australia, ranked 15th in the world, ultimately falling 2–0 in front of a sold-out crowd at Nyayo Stadium.

Now back in club training this week, Shilwatso returns with renewed focus as Kayole Starlets head into the final stretch of the season.
With four crucial matches remaining, she is determined to channel her national team experience into strong performances for the club.
“I’m back, focused, and ready to give my best. We have four important games left, and I want to use everything I’ve learned to help the team finish the season strong.”
Shilwatso’s return brings added depth, versatility, and confidence to the squad, qualities that could prove crucial as Kayole Starlets push to close out the campaign on a high.
