Kayole Starlets hit the road this weekend as they travel to Mumias Sports Complex to take on Vihiga Queens in the FKF Women’s Premier League Matchweek 5. Kayole will be keen to bounce back from last week’s disappointing defeat to Ulinzi Starlets, despite showing promising moments in the encounter. Meanwhile, Vihiga Queens are still searching for their first points of the season and will be eager to turn their fortunes around on home turf. With both sides having plenty to fight for, Kayole will be determined to deliver a strong performance and make their trip to Mumias count.
How Both Teams Come Into the Fixture
Kayole Starlets head into the fixture sitting 8th on the league table with five points from four matches, having recorded one win, two draws and one defeat. Coming off a disappointing loss to Ulinzi Starlets, the team will be eager to bounce back, regain momentum and get their campaign back on track.
Vihiga Queens, meanwhile, remain rooted at the bottom of the table and are still searching for their first points of the season after four matches. Following a difficult start to their campaign, the hosts will be desperate to turn things around after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Kibera Soccer Women in their previous outing. With both sides hungry for a positive result, the clash promises to be a crucial test for each team’s determination and resilience.
Head-To-Head
The two sides met twice last season, with each team claiming a victory. Kayole Starlets secured a convincing 2-0 win in November 2025 at Stima Club Grounds, delivering a commanding performance capped by goals from Lindah Kihara and Euphrasier Shilwatso.
However, Vihiga Queens had the last laugh in the reverse fixture in April 2026, edging Kayole 1-0 at Nyang’ori Boys High School to level the head-to-head record. With honours even from last season, the upcoming encounter in Mumias presents Kayole with an opportunity to settle the score and secure bragging rights in this renewed contest.
Travelling Squad
Head coach George Kimani and his technical bench have focused on recovery and mental preparation following the disappointing 5-0 defeat to Ulinzi Starlets. The team has been working to put the result behind them, address defensive lapses and refocus ahead of the trip to Mumias. There are no confirmed injury or suspension concerns, with Calta Nasambu the only notable omission following her recent move to Turkish club Haymana Spor Kulübü. Here is the travelling squad selected for the clash against Vihiga Queens:
Goalkeepers: Nelly Achieng, Sonia Wambui
Defenders: Sharon Lidoro, Grace Okumu, Foscah Kanenge, Elizabeth Okello, Ivy Onyango, Martha Nafula, Maryjane Otieno

What’s at Stake?
For Kayole Starlets, this fixture presents an opportunity to bounce back, collect valuable away points and restore confidence after their previous outing. With five points from their opening four matches, a positive result would help them strengthen their position in the league standings. For Vihiga Queens, the pressure is equally high. The four-time champions enter the fixture after losing their opening four league matches, leaving them desperate to get their campaign underway. Both sides have plenty to fight for, setting the stage for a competitive encounter.
