Euphrasier Shilwatso in action against Morocco

Kayole Starlets defender Euphrasier Shilwatso made her Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 debut on Saturday night as the Harambee Starlets began their Group A campaign against tournament hosts Morocco at Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat.

While Kenya fell to a 4-0 defeat, Shilwatso’s introduction in the second half provided a bright moment for both the national team and Kayole Starlets. Replacing Vivian Nasaka in defence, the composed defender settled into the match quickly, bringing stability to Kenya’s backline and helping contain several Moroccan attacks down the right flank.

Despite the disappointing result, Shilwatso’s appearance on Africa’s biggest women’s football stage marks another significant milestone in her career and reflects her continued development since emerging through the ranks at Kayole Starlets. Her debut is a proud achievement for the club, which continues to produce players capable of competing at the highest level of African football.

The Harambee Starlets will now shift their focus to a crucial Group A fixture against Senegal on 30 July. A positive result would not only secure Kenya’s first points of the tournament but also strengthen their hopes of advancing to the WAFCON knockout stages.

Kayole Starlets wishes Euphrasier and the entire Harambee Starlets squad the very best as they continue their WAFCON 2026 journey.
